OLLP hosts San Pablo MSPC XVI Echo
234 delegates from the Vicariate of San Pablo flocked to the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Gym in Bangkal for the MSPC XVI Echo last February 24, 2018. The entire proceeding was facilitated by Davao Archdiocesan Pastoral Worker Vicky Estoque-Anghag.
Welcomed by OLLP Parish Lay Coordinator Nestor Fruto, the echo was attended by 67 laypeople from San Pablo Parish in Juna Subdivision, 47 laypeople from Ascension of the Lord Parish in GSIS Heights, 40 laypeople from San Isidro Labrador Parish in Skyline, 33 laypeople from Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Ma-a, and 47 laypeople from the host Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal.
Bishop George Rimando presented the history of the Mindanao-Sulu Pastoral Conference that started in November 1971 with the theme “Building Christian Communities: Worshipping, Teaching, Serving”; while Father Leonardo Dublan revisited the preparation of MSPC XVI participated by 5 Archdioceses, 13 Dioceses, 2 Prelatures and an Apostolic Vicariate, held at the Waterfront Insular Hotel, Davao City, on October 16-20, 2017.
The echo highlighted the four constant renewal of Catholic Church: 1) ecclesia semper reformanda [Church]; 2) spirituality of communion [Eucharist]; 3) popular devotion [New Evangelization]; and 4) spirituality of the interreligious dialogue and the indigenous people (witness).
The whole day MSPC XVI Echo addressed its three main objectives: 1) paghinumdom sa MSPC, 2) pagdayeg sa MSPC, 3) pagtubag sa hagit sa MSPC; which were expressed by the delegates through their formed symbols of cross, Eucharist, anchor, another cross, and communion.
Aside from Bishop Rimando and Father Dublan, the MSPC XVI Echo was also participated by Father Ritchie Gamaya of Davao Catholic Herald, Father Dexter Veloso of OLLP, Father Zenon Ampong and Father Jupiter Morales of San Pablo Parish, Father Joel Caasi of San Isidro Labrador Parish, and Father Reygie Penesious, AJC, of Ascension of the Lord Parish.
The San Pablo Vicariate MSPC XVI Echo was culminated with the Holy Eucharist officiated by Father Veloso, and co-celebrated by Fathers Dublan and Penesious. In his homily, Father Dublan said that MSPC XVI is a continuing development of the Catholic Church as defined in the Gospel according to Saint Matthew (5:43-48) “Be perfect like the Heavenly Father is perfect”. At the offset of the Holy Eucharist, Father Veloso expressed his heartfelt gratitude, in behalf of the members of the OLLP-PPC, for holding the San Pablo Vicariate MSPC XVI Echo at the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.
