Concert for a Cause in Mary Mediatrix Cathedral Digos

Last February 3, 2018 the parishioners of Mary Mediatrix Cathedral in Digos City were united in sharing their God-given talents in singing and dancing during a Concert for a cause entitled “Pasundayag sa Parokya ni Maria.” This concert was conceptualized to raise funds for the renovation of Mary Mediatrix cathedral. The singing clergy of Digos namely Fr. Frederick S. Parantar, DCD, Fr. Marvin Zamora, DCD, Fr. Consorcio Lopez, DCD elicited the most applause as they sang contemporary hit songs. They were joined by a singing nun Sr. Joyce Bunda, ADM and their friends Leopoldo Segundo, Billy Ulan-ulan, Miguelito Espinoza and Jun Labajo. Aside from the singing clergy, the audience was also entertained by the musical prowess of the Davao del Sur National High School Symphonic Band conducted by Melvin Anthony Sabio; Cor Jesu College Symphonic Band under the baton of Dante Aguilar; MMGC Vocals led by Ms. Krishna Seguido and Leopoldo Seguido; UM Digos Chorale trained by Sir Jay Osorno; The Tawag ng Tanghalan Showstoppers Joy Togonon, Jolina Orbita and Joseph Lapaz showed the audience that they deserved to win in Tawag ng Tanghalan. The Guihing All Star dancers led by Sir Jessy Lazar, the Cor Jesu Terpsichorean led by Sir John Roy Palima and the DCNHS SPA Dance Arts headed by Maam Kristine Camillo — all showed their amazing dancing talents.

The evening ended with an inspiring message from Bishop Guillermo Afable, DD the Bishop of the Diocese of Digos. He mentioned that after watching the concert he thought of 4Gs: 1. Gift, 2. Grateful, 3. Gift to be given, 4. Generosity… Indeed we have seen and heard the giftedness of the performers, both the clergy and the laity. We are grateful to them for sharing their talents, it showed that they realized that their talent is a gift from God and therefore must be shared. Then the Bishop encouraged everyone to be generous with all the gifts they have received. (Manilee Araune)
