Diocese of Digos joins ‘Duyog Marawi’ project

In response to the appeal for assistance of the Bishop of the Prelature of Marawi, Bishop Edwin de la Peña last October 18, 2017 during the MSPC XVI in Davao City, the Social Action Center of the Diocese of Digos headed by Rev. Fr. Consorcio Lopez, DCD-Social Action Director went to Marawi last November 26-27, 2017. The team consisted of Sr. Paz Samillano, WCW – Coordinator, Sr. Emelia Polinar, WCW – Staff, Dick Duhaylungsod – Relief and Rehabilitation program in-charge, An Mahinay, Napolita Cumahis, Roselyn Hinos – Mary Mediatrix Cathedral, Parish Social Action Ministry, Blaze Cantaros – Sta.Cruz Parish, Rogelio Heramis and Lito Rodriguez.

The “Duyog Marawi” staff met them in Iligan City and guided them to Baloi, the 1st parish of the Prelature of Marawi from Iligan City. There the goods were unloaded.

Fr. Ramonito Torres, the Social Action in-charge welcomed them. They proceeded to Marawi City which was an hour travel from Baloi. The Duyog Marawi staff brought them to the “Tent City”, one of the evacuation centers.

The total value of the goods they have donated for “Duyog Marawi” is more or less Php 514,417.80. (Sr. Paz Samillano, WCW | ASAC-Caritas Coordinator)
