The Problem of Utilitarianism…
Full of religious conviction, the 129 participants from the 46 GKK’s of San Miguel Parish of Panacan confirmed the issue of utilitarianism as the main and general problem that arose during the Parish BEC gathering validation conducted last August 25, 2013 held at Panacan Relocation covered court.
The said activity started around 9:00 A.M. It was facilitated by Bro. Alvin Olaer, MAT, the Parish Formation Ministry Coordinator. The activity opened by reading the Gospel of the day, and was followed by an opening remarks of Rev. Fr. Proceso G. Gimeno Jr., DCD, the parish priest of San Miguel Parish.
The Parish staff were also there to observe the said activity in order for them to know the recent situation of the GKK, so that they could positively help in implementing the programs of the parish together with the parish priest. Sem. Pio and Ms. Cathy of the Pastoral office of the Archdiocese also observed the said activity and commented that it was very organized.
At 12 o’clock at noon, the consultation was almost done and Bro. Alvin declared a break for lunch. The GKK leaders and observers went to their respective groups to have a fellowship lunch.
At 3:00 P.M. the consultation was finished and Bro. Joel Reyes, a Parish PSL and a professor of Ignatian Institute on Religious Education at Holy Cross of Davao College synthesized the repercussions given by the GKK leaders and Bro. Rusty Corsame and Sr. JerlynMoranta the Parish Head Catechist tabulated the result from the collated data from the Archdiocese.
The data revealed that the no. 1 in the ranking of the hindering was in item no. 2 which is on, “Pagsalmot sa panahon nga adunay personal nga tuyo sa GKK (i.e. issuance of certificates),” and it was supported by the rank 2 which is in item no. 10, “Motambong lang og KSP kay dunay panginahanglan mokuha og IDS.” It was vividly evaluated that one major problem of the GKK is utilitarianism.
The activity was formally closed with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by Fr. Gimeno in order to thank the Lord for the success of the said activity.
