DCHerald online TV gets nod from Abp. Valles
The Archbishop of Davao Romulo G. Valles has lauded the initiative of the Davao Catholic Herald Social Media Ministry for its first online TV broadcast last August 9.
During the presentation at the monthly presbyterium meeting, the Davao Clergy learned about the upcoming plans of DCHerald to increase its mileage via online presence aside from the weekly publication.
Perry Paul Lamanilao, the social media ministry head said the clergy should use the Internet as a platform for evangelization because this is where they can reach the young people.
“If you discount the Internet, you are discounting the youth,” he said during his presentation to the Davao Clergy, August 12.
The clergy also learned about the success of the #SHIFTDavao Social Media Conference last July 27, the first of its kind here in Mindanao and in Davao City.
The Research and Database head, Cheryl Vilog also presented the ongoing projects of DCHerald like the Media Baby Ka Ba? Media Literacy seminar in the parishes. This said project continues to run in the parishes of the Archdiocese of Davao in the upcoming months.
A presentation on the existing editorial practices of DCHerald was also done to let the clergy of Davao know about how DCHerald sources and selects articles and features published every Sunday and distributed in the parishes and in the GKKs (Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban).
The Director of the Social Communications and Mass Media Apostolate Fr. Ritsche Gamaya, who is also the Manager and Editor-in-Chief of Davao Catholic Herald presented the financial report to give the clergy an idea on the existing financial status and constraints in operating Asia’s longest-running Catholic newspaper.
