HCDC at 66: Gazing the Cross Draws Us to Christ
The Holy Cross of Davao College will be celebrating its 66th founding anniversary on September 14 with lined up activities beforehand as the HCDC community commemorates the jubilant mission of the institution over the years.
With the theme, “Gazing the Cross Draws Us to Christ.” this year’s celebration is centered on the Cross which reminds every Holy Crossian of the eternal love and compassion of Christ to the humankind.
In his message to the HCDC community, School President Rev. Msgr. Julius C. Rodulfa said that every fiesta celebration is an opportunity to celebrate and rejoice in the faith that draws us together. He also cited an example of the Gospel story of Peter being summoned by Jesus to come to Him “across the stormy waters” (Mt 14:28-29). “To maintain our faith in the midst of such difficult situations, we are summoned to keep our eyes on Christ’s power; on the power of the Cross,” Msgr. Rodulfa added.
To fill the air with festivity, fiesta activities were laid down to engage the students and employees’ in the week-long celebration. These include daily novena masses, run for a cause and field demonstration for the basic education students. Following a liturgical celebration on the anniversary day presided by Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles, service award will also be given to regular employees of HCDC in recognition of their loyalty, commitment and exemplary contribution to the HCDC community through genuine service rendered over a certain number of years.
