A dream of place of worship, now a reality

The growing number of seminarians in St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary (REMASE) allowed a not so impossible dream to rise 4 years ago, and this dream is now closer to its realization. With the laying of the cornerstone ceremony for the newly-projected chapel last August 1, 2017 at Regional Major Seminary grounds, a sign of hope was felt among priests, seminarians and invited guests. The ceremony was indeed a living sign that another phase in the history of REMASE will unfold. Presided by Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, D.D., the ceremony was executed by the seminarians where the foundation stone was placed along with it documents such as memoirs, newspapers and other documents which symbolize the seminary.

Rector of REMASE Msgr. Abel Apigo proudly said that “approximately after a year, a new decent and bigger church will be established in the mountain of Catalunan Grande. This upcoming church can accommodate 350-400 people. More people means more development of individual spiritual and prayerful life. This is our dream 4 years ago (2013). Now, through the efforts and support of Archbishop Valles, this can all be possible.” He also added “that there is no existing funds for now, but I am confidently sure that there will be available sooner or later for like what the Bible said, ‘God will provide.’” Aside for its main purpose, this was also a necessity since a lot of visitors hold their big events at the REMASE Gym. But he stressed that “this upcoming church is prioritized for our seminarians. They deserve a place where they can strengthen their faith in order to shape themselves as upcoming good leaders of our church.” (Clement C. Montano and Dan Lester Alarracin | HCDC Interns)
