Corpus Christi vigil held at Assumption Parish

Corpus Christi vigil at Assumption ParishIn preparation for the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, the Assumption Parish held a Corpus Christi vigil with the theme: “Parishes and Communities will be renewed by living the Eucharist, Whom we receive everyday!” last June 17. The vigil started at 7 in the evening until 12 midnight with adoration prayer, gospel reading and guest sharer every hour.

The Assumption Parish Youth Ministry (APYM) was assigned to lead the vigil at 8 in the evening. It started with adoration prayer led by APYM core group members Dessa Rose Mabale and Cheery Mae Fabroa. Gospel reading was taken from Jn. 6:51-58 followed by a small sharing of Mr. and Mrs. Adolfo and Cecilia Mirasol, Life in the Eucharist Seminar (LITES) and AP Formation committee members.

Mr. Adolfo Mirasol started his sharing by recalling his difficulties in life and how he was able to overcome them with the help of his wife, Cecilia whom he had been married for 43 years. Mrs. Mirasol also shared how she found God’s love when she first attended a Charismatic seminar. At that time, she was still diagnosed with breast cancer and do not know until when she will live. So she said to the Lord, “use the remaining years of my life to praise you and glorify you.” Miraculously, she was freed from her sickness even without chemotherapy. This she attributed to God’s love. Encountering Jesus in the Eucharist in their daily masses nourished them as a couple and slowly liberated them from the many bondage, shortcomings, weaknesses and pains. The couple calls their lives as “hymn of thanksgiving because the meaning of the Eucharist is thanksgiving.”

Mrs. Mirasol was only 31 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She will be turning 64 this year. Her testimony is a living example of “glorifying God in His healing love in the Eucharist.”

After the sharing, the people were invited to come and touch the altar table and offer prayers to the Eucharistic Lord. It was then followed by the singing of the Lord’s Prayer and recitation of intercessory and closing prayers. The singing of “O Sakramentong Mahal” concluded the one-hour adoration.
