Tagakpan youth join Kapatiran 2017
The Pangulo sa Batan-on – Joseph Marello Youth (JMY) of San Francisco De Asis (SFDA) Parish, Tagakpan held the 1st “Kapatiran” in JMY Davao chapter last April 22.
Kapatiran is an annual sportsfest of the Oblates of St. Joseph (OSJ) Congregation intended for Marelllos (altar servers) and Marellettes (gift bearers and choir members) held in Batangas, but brought here in Davao.
The event attended by more than 500 Marelllos and Marellettes started with a holy mass presided by Rev. Fr. Peter Fancubila, OSJ. Then, the event was officially opened by the lighting of the torch by Mr. Fryde Ayno, Head of the Marellos and Mr. Jay Ayog, Chairman of the PSB-JMY Davao Sports Committee. Mr. Ayno said that the delegates were very promising for at their young age they already exercised leadership and teamwork and all their preparation and efforts were all worth it just seeing those smiles on their faces.
The Oath of Sportsmanship and the rules of the games were led by Mr. Ayog. The games were simultaneously held and were supervised by the Core Group members. There were 10 teams who have competed in basketball, volleyball, badminton, darts, dodge ball, chess, dama, scrabble, and snakes and ladders.
According to Kent Anora, one of the delegates, the Kapatiran 2017 was well-organized. Group dynamics and the awarding ceremony capped the day. Everyone went home victorious, gained new friends and established a friendship among those who have the same interest in serving Jesus like St. Joseph.
