Diocesan radio stations evangelize for peace
DXHM’s 26 years and DXDV-FM’s eight years on the air lanes are indicators of God’s providence. These two radio stations in Mati are concrete manifestations of survival amidst the tough and rough competition in the social communication industry. It all started with a dream of Bp. Patricio Alo to have a diocesan radio station for evangelization; to serve as messenger of God’s Words; to spread the Good News; to bridge the distance between the Church and the people of God; to connect lives; and to foster camaraderie among the people working in the two radio stations.
Last March 19, the people working in DXHM and DXDV-FM held a twin celebration for the stations’ continued commitment of evangelization for peace.
For two years in a row, outreach activities were held to celebrate the anniversary of the two radio stations in the diocese of Mati. Last year, the outreach was held in a rape crisis center in the diocese, the Reception Diagnostic and Study Center. The second outreach was held at the Davao Oriental Rehabilitation and Reformatory Center of which the inmates were the second recipients.
This year the disc jockeys and staff of DXHM and DXDV-FM will go to Sitio Taganilao, Brgy. Tamisan in the City of Mati for gift-giving activity. This is their way of saying that the stations “care” for them.
Another reason to celebrate is that March 19 is solemnity of St. Joseph, the most chaste spouse of Mary. Just like Mary, St. Joseph is also a model of obedience. And so are the people working in the two stations. Nothing compares to the bond that ties the people working for and in the stations. (Leonila Duallo | Mati City)
