ANC kids enjoy Christmas with lay group
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”
This Matthew 25:35 verse resounded as the Latin Mass Society (LMS) of Davao, Inc. held an outreach program for children at Archdiocesan Nourish Center (ANC) located at Pag-Asa St., Poblacion, Davao City. This was how the community celebrated the Feast of the Holy Innocents, which are the first martyrs for Jesus Christ.
The LMSDI Choir shared their talents by caroling to raise funds in realizing this feeding program.
As one of the agenda of the community, the act of feeding someone is the ultimate act of care and affection, sharing oneself with someone through food.
The group realized that it was not the kids who received blessings from the LMS, but it was they who received blessings through the children’s happiness.
The group is thankful to the ANC and the Living the Gospel Community (LGC) Sisters who gave them the opportunity to experience in feeding the kids in need.
Sr. Mafel Intengan, LGC thanked the group headed by Arthur Agullana. She said that the mission of the LGC is to “make ourselves available for others, loving even the unlovable, that’s what we are called for.”
The Center is an initiative of the Archdiocese of Davao through the Archdiocesan Council of Lay Apostolate and Integrated Movement (ACLAIM) as a concrete response to Pope Francis’ challenge to go and bring Christ message of love even “to the fringes of society.” It is being managed by the LGC Sisters which aims to provide integral nourishment programs and services such as spiritual formation, medical assistance, especially to the poorest of the poor, and feeding of malnourished children in Davao City.
