Young Catholics of Mintal joins Summer Camp
308 young people from 98 GKK (Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban) of the Immaculate Conception Parish of Mintal gathered for their annual summer youth camp last April 22-24, 2016 at ICP grounds and reflected on the theme: “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” –Matt. 5:8
The event was a re-echo of the two major recent events of the Philippine Catholic Church – the International Eucharistic Congress in Cebu and the National Youth Day that was held in the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao.
Various inputs and workshops were given to the participants by the different young professionals. The importance of Eucharist was given by Ms. Cendy Bangod, the ICP head catechist, and Mr. Mark Narreto, a Mass Comm. instructor who gave a talk on the importance of the youth’s spiritual nourishment. Also, tracks such as awareness of the existence of the indigenous people, climate change, love and purity, anti-bullying, and even theatre workshop served as an avenue to intensively discuss timely issues. The young people exercised their teamwork and camaraderie through group games and were able to showcase their creativity and talents during their solidarity night.
As a conclusion, Fr. Jovil Bongay, the ICP parish priest reminded the youth to come up with a personal philosophy in their life to guide them in times of difficulties and doubt. (Corrine Grace Casia)
