HCDC is Archbishop Clovis Thibault Awardee
Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC), the 65-year old institution founded by the PME Fathers, is this year’s recipient of the Archbishop Clovis Thibault award given by Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU).
The award was received by Monsignor Julius C. Rodulfa, HCDC President for the past seven years, during the 2 April 2016 commencement exercises at the AdDU Jacinto Campus.
The prestigious award recognized HCDC’s active commitment to service as an archdiocesan educational institution fulfilling “Education in the Service of Faith that Does Justice” and its mission of forming persons who are effective agents of social transformation.
Monsignor Rodulfa, in his prepared statement, expressed that the award attests that “Holy Cross of Davao College has stood the test of time and has kept alive its founders’ vision-mission of providing quality education and forming effective agents of social transformation.” The same award was given to the PME Fathers in 1987, the founders of Holy Cross of Davao College.
Holy Cross of Davao College has three campuses— in Samal Island, in Bajada and, in Sta. Ana Avenue. Its current basic education campus at Bajada serves 1,200 pupils and the college unit at Sta. Ana Avenue has a total student population of 10,857 students enrolled in its 14 course offerings. In 2015, HCDC announced that it is K to 12 ready and has been renovating the Sta. Ana campus to accommodate the senior high school and to prepare for the coming of the “new first year” college students by School Year 2018-2019.
The Archbishop Clovis Thibault Award is a tradition of the Ateneo de Davao University and named after the first Prelate-Ordinary of Davao (1954), first Bishop of Davao (1966) and first Archbishop of Davao (1970) — Most Rev. Clovis Thibault. The award is given annually to priests and religious institutions for outstanding service to the Church.
