St Joseph the Worker parishThe highlight of the coming 52th Fiesta Celebration of St. Joseph the Worker Parish is the MAKAPASALAMAT Festival, Street Dancing Competition on April 30, at 8:00am. This is the first time we are doing an activity like this, as initiated by the parish priest, Fr. Dionisio Tabiliran.

It depicts the concept that is relevant to the life of St. Joseph the Worker, his culture, practices, and beliefs. MA-KA-PA-SA-LA-MAT is the acronym of Ma-mumuong, Ka-tawhan ni San Jose sa Pa-mpanga, Sa-sa, La-nang, nga Mat-uohon.

This is open to all parishioners coming from 8 different zones, excluding children below 8 years old. Invitation to participate through the Pangulo sa Katilingban (PSK), Zone coordinator. The focal presentation at the Holy Cross College of Sasa, Gymnasium.

As of this time, a series of Executive Committee Meetings is happening for planning, to make this dream come true, which is presided by the Head/Event Coordinator, Mr. Marlon Pongcol and the vice-Chairman, Sr. Ma. Elenita Delfin, TDM. Everyone is invited to take part in this first time activity.

Street Dancing competition guidelines: Each contingent must be composed of at least a minimum of 30 but not exceed 50 dancers including props man. There will be 2 judging areas: Parade Dance steps interpreting the song “makapasalamat” composed by Fr Diony Tabiliran and a dance tribute to the Patron saint in front of the Church and the Final showdown at Holy Cross College of Sasa Gym, and all costumes of the contingents must be in accordance to the accepted standards and decency. Criteria for judging: Theme/concept 15%, Choroegraphy 15%, Performance 15%, Costume & props 10% and discipline 10%, total of 100%. Prizes as follows: Champion 30,000.00, First Runner-up 20,000.00, Second Runner-up 10,000.00 and consolation prizes for non-winners 3,000.00. MAKAPASALAMAT STREET DANCING will be on April 30, 2016 at 5:30 a.m., Assembly area: Santiago Container Yard fronting F. Bangoy Central/Elem. School.
