San Isidro GKK Chapel of Bombaran

San Isidro GKK Chapel of Bombaran, Eden was the venue of the Lenten Recollection for Mothers held last March 11, 2016. Bombaran is a remote, mountainous place a little farther from the Eden Resort. Its name literally exhorts the residents to “run when you hear bomb explosions.” The retreat, using the I THIRST meditations of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, was facilitated by the Sisters and lay volunteers of the Missionaries of Charity. Theme of the retreat was “Giuhaw Ako: Ang Papel sa Inahan diha sa Pagtagbaw sa Kauhaw sa Ginoo ug sa Tawo.” Fr. Al Botero and Fr. Dindin Amoroso heard confessions while the retreat was ongoing and then later they concelebrated the Holy Mass. Lunch was served and medicines were dispensed to the residents after the Mass. The missionaries have been helping the poorest of the poor in this place for more than a year already. Their work here include dispensary of medicines, feeding, livelihood training and catechesis to the mothers of Bombaran.

San Isidro GKK

This is BOMBARAN, Prk 3, Eden, Toril, Davao City. The name means “Pagputok sa bomba, dagan!” (When a bomb explodes, run!) In this Jubilee of Mercy, the Church exhorts the priests, nuns and religious workers to go even to the farthest corners of the earth to bring the love and mercy of God. Bombaran is a mountainous, remote, young community vibrant with the energy of its youthful residents just starting to make their own families. Your help is needed here to teach livelihood to the people, especially the women and to put up school for the children. Since 2014, the Missionaries of Charity, with the support of Fr. Al Botero and Fr. Bernardino Amoroso, have been regularly coming here to conduct feeding, dispensary and catechesis, confession and Holy Mass. (Text and photos by Marian Carmela Raquel)
