The Feast of Sto. Niño

The Holy Mass, dancing in the streets, the beating of the drums, colorful costumes, fully booked flights, to mention a few, highlight the celebration of the Feast of the Sto. Niño. Countless devotees attest that at one time or so in their life, in their dire need, their supplications were answered by the Child Jesus. This sign of gratitude especially in Cebu and in many churches and chapels undeniably and increasingly attract more of the faithful to a prayerful devotion to the Child Jesus.

It is good to remember that the blessings and favors we receive should not be appropriated to our own self alone, on the contrary, to realize joy and happiness in our life is to share the blessings we receive and realize more blessings come! (Bishop R. Barron) The mistake of our first parents was precisely wanting to appropriate what they received to be just their own – they wanted to be God. Whereas, Jesus, the Blessed Mother, and the Saints gave themselves for others, thus lived a blessed life.

Lastly, the Child Jesus who will later die on the Cross shall continue to bring heaven on earth. Viva Sto. Niño! Pit Señor!
