Babak priest: ‘Wedding a priceless gift’
Thirty five (35) couples of Virgen Dolorosa Parish in Babak received the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at the “Kasalan ng Parokya” last week of December.
Carmelito and Evangeline Arcayan decided after 18 years to get married in Church as Msgr. Nelson Lucas, the Parish Priest and Rev. Fr. Jose Marie Escuadro, the Vicar Priest presided the marriage bonds.
Msgr. Lucas stressed the true meaning of love through selfless giving of oneself. He also cited the importance of the sacrament as a priceless gift one can give to his/her better half.
“The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony is designed by Jesus Christ himself. However, many couples now opted not to undergo Church wedding because of financial constraints. Thus, our parish offers every June and December a free wedding to our parishioners,” Msgr. Lucas said.
The current wedding is different from the previous nuptials because Msgr. Lucas provided the food for the reception as his gifts to the couples for his golden birthday celebration last November 20. Each couple was given ten free slots for the reception of their visitors. NCCC Davao also gave the couples with grocery packs as gifts.
The “Kasalan ng Parokya” celebration was clinched by a Torch Family Parade. Families from the different GKKs marched around the poblacion of Babak at 6:00 P.M. It was concluded by the different sharing that centers on family life and service to God through His people.
Both the Kasalan ng Parokya and the Torch Family Parade, spearheaded by the Family and Life Apostolate of the parish led by Mr. Hur Camporedondo, commenced VDP’s launching of the Year of the Family. (Charizma L. Ambrona | VDP SoCCom)
