ReMaSe Alumni Homecoming 2024 60th Anniversary

REMASE Marks Culmination of 60th Anniversary with Grand Alumni Homecoming

The St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary of Mindanao (ReMaSe) in Davao City celebrated its Alumni Homecoming from November 11 to 14, 2024, marking the conclusion of its 60th Founding Anniversary celebration. The event brought together archbishops, bishops, priests, and lay alumni from across Mindanao to honor six decades of priestly formation and service to the Church.

The celebrations opened with a Solemn Eucharistic celebration on November 11, presided over by Most Rev. Cosme Damian Racines Almedilla, D.D. of the Diocese of Butuan, with Rev. Fr. Rene Ribac, President of the Alumni Association, delivering the homily. Fr. Ribac highlighted the seminary’s enduring influence on its students and its role in the Church’s mission, reminding attendees of their shared identity and vocation. “Behind our celebration is a reminder of who we are,” he stated, adding in Cebuano, “Kitang tanan ulipon sa Ginoo ug Apostol ni Kristo” (“We are all servants of God and apostles of Christ”). He emphasized the commitment of all alumni to serve God and their communities.

During the welcome program, the seminarians showcased their talents for the alumni. This homecoming provided a meaningful opportunity to honor ReMaSe’s legacy and renew their dedication to serving the faithful across the region. The seminary remains a vital institution in fostering faith, service, and leadership for the formation of future clergy in Mindanao and beyond.

Founded in 1964 by Archbishop Clovis Joseph Thibault, PME, D.D., the first Archbishop of Davao, ReMaSe has played a essential role in the religious and educational landscape of Mindanao, shaping generations of priests, religious, and Church leaders. This year’s homecoming included various activities, Masses, and reflections, allowing alumni to reconnect and reflect on the seminary’s impact on their lives and ministries.

After 60 years, ReMaSe already produced 991 alumni with 12 bestowed with the grace of episcopacy. (Sem. Kelvin R. Castillo)
