Excitement Builds for Diamond Jubilee

As the Archdiocese of Davao approaches the final events of its 75th Diamond Jubilee, anticipation grows for the culmination gathering at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang, on November 29, 2024. This significant event is expected to draw more than 3,500 participants, including the faithful, clergy, and distinguished guests, to celebrate and reflect on the rich history and growth of the Archdiocese.

Among the esteemed guests will be the Most Rev. Charles John Brown, D.D., Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, who will lead the recognition of several individuals and families for their outstanding service to the Church and community. This award ceremony will honor those whose steadfast dedication has helped shape the Archdiocese’s legacy and mission.

Adding to the historical richness of this celebration, a special highlight will be the display of materials from the “De Navigatione” Exhibit. Although the main exhibit will have concluded on November 24, selected items will be showcased at the November 29 event to offer guests a glimpse into the remarkable journey of early missionaries in Davao. This exhibit, organized by the Archdiocesan Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church, honors the evangelizing spirit that first brought the Catholic faith to Davao and laid the foundation for the vibrant community of faith that exists today.

The evening will also feature stirring performances by various Catholic institutions, including Holy Cross of Davao College, Ateneo de Davao University, University of Mindanao Chorale, and the Davao Clergy. Through music and storytelling, these groups will present a journey through time, highlighting key moments in the Archdiocese’s history and offering an inspiring tribute to the Church’s enduring presence.

While the November 29 gathering is a major highlight of the Diamond Jubilee celebration, the triduum will conclude with a solemn Holy Mass on November 30. This Mass, the spiritual heart of the Jubilee, will bring the community together in gratitude and faith, uniting them as they look forward to a hopeful future for the Archdiocese of Davao.

Join us as we commemorate this 75th Diamond Jubilee—a celebration of faith, heritage, and unity that strengthens the bonds of the Davao Catholic community and looks forward to the journey ahead.
