SPC Unites Community in 68th Anniversary

San Pedro College marked its 68th Founding Anniversary with a day filled with activities that brought together students, faculty, staff, and alumni in a joyful celebration on Tuesday, October 1.

The festivities kicked off with a flower arrangement contest, where participants showcased their creativity by designing stunning floral displays inspired by the feast of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, also known as “The Little Flower.” After the floral contest, SPC Kultura delivered a captivating performance that featured cultural dances of the Maranao and Maguindanao.

The celebration continued with a Eucharistic Mass presided over by Most Rev. Napoleon Sipalay Jr., D.D. OP, Bishop of Alaminos, which united the SPC community in a shared moment of reflection and prayer. In his homily, Bishop Sipalay emphasized the importance of wholeness and allegiance, which was aligned with the theme of the celebration, “Wellness to Wholeness: SPC’s Commitment to Loving Service.”

Following the Mass, a dance presentation by the 2024 Folk Dance champions from the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) brought exuberance to the attendees.

In the Photo Essay competition, the top winners in the student category were Franchezka Suarez from the School of Medical Laboratory Science (SMLS), who took first place, Marcus Barnes from the Basic Education Department (BED), who came in second, and Kharyll R. De Leon from the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS), who placed third.

In the employees’ category, Christopher Alaba from the School of Business Management, Education, Arts and Sciences (SBMEAS) emerged as champion, while Cyriel Sayson from the Basic Education Department (BED) secured second place, and Modisto Cabanesas II from Science Laboratories finished third.

The afternoon focused on wellness and community wholeness, starting with Small Caring Community sharing sessions where everyone reflected on their common experiences as members of the SPC family.

As the parade of teams commenced, the various factions displayed vibrant colors: gray, green, yellow, pink, and blue.

The Laro ng Lahi revitalized competitiveness as the five teams competed to win. The Yellow team triumphed in Tigso, the Blue team in Dodgeball, while all teams tied in Patintero.

To cap off the day, a basketball exhibition game was held between SPC employees and REMASE Shepherds. The SPC employees won with a score of 62-52 against the REMASE Shepherds.

San Pedro College concluded its 68th Founding Anniversary with a strengthened bond. The celebration’s meaningful events not only honored the school’s legacy but also inspired a renewed commitment to its values of faith, love, and service.
