Laudato Si ni San Jose Garden

On October 6, 2024 (Sunday), at St. Joseph The Worker Parish, the culmination of the celebration for the Season for Care of Creation was held.

To mark the end of the celebration, various activities was headed by the Parish Desk for Care of Creation under the Parish Social Action Ministry program, aimed at nurturing the environment. One of the activities was the collection of single-use plastic bottles throughout the month of September, with each parish under the Archdiocese of Davao required to deliver 142 kilos per parish. Through hard work and dedication, St. Joseph Parish delivered 326 kilos.

As part of the activities, on September 28, Fr. Leonardo Dublan, Jr. reminded parishioners to put off non-essential use of electricity from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm, as part of the observance of Earth Hour participated by our GKKs after tha Kasaulogan sa Pulong (KSP), where they continued to pray the Rosary with lights off in the chapel.

On October 6, 2024, after the 9:00 am mass presided over by Fr. Bong, the blessing of plants and animals followed. After the 4:00pm mass was the blessing of the Laudato Si ni San Jose Garden.

A Garbage Beam with signage and a designated Composting Area were established to ensure proper waste segregation and a clear collection point.

The culmination ended with a fellowship dinner.

Let us wholeheartedly appreciate nature by fostering creativity and remembering Pope Francis’s message: “God created the world and entrusted it to us as a gift. Now we have the responsibility to care for and protect it and all people, who are part of creation. Protecting human dignity is strongly linked to care for creation.” (Laudato Si)
