The People I Have Shaped For Myself Will Broadcast My Praises

On September 8, 2024, coinciding with the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Social Communications (SoCCom) team of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish (OLLP) gathered at the parish office for an Anchoring Seminar. This event is part of the SoCCom’s quarterly Pastoral Formation and Skills Training program.

The activity started with the praying of the Holy Rosary followed by a community song, Salve Regina, in honor of the Blessed Mother, followed by the reading of the gospel of the day by Merlyn Resula. SoCCom Heads Rowena Corazon Villaflor and Emma Pacifico then shared their gospel reflections on how God showed miracles in various ways and how He has redirected their lives in accordance with His ways. The attendees truly found the reflections inspiring and a great example of strong faith.

Following the gospel sharing was a seminar to better equip the SoCCom members in their role of re-echoing God’s goodness and grace. The group was blessed to have a special keynote speaker in the person of Ms. Annie Solon Libres, the Program Head of DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM-Davao. She walked the group through the history of the Catholic Radio Station, its birth and re-birth, the challenges the station had faced and how it survived with God’s intervention.

Ms. Libres generously shared her skills and knowledge on radio anchoring. She taught the skills needed to be an efficient anchor, the right tone to use, the proper modulation, and the right attitude while on-air, among others. She also shared that through God’s grace, the Catholic Radio Station ranked number five in the latest survey across local radio stations. The attendees then enthusiastically participated in the workshop that followed the seminar–a proof of how much they have learned from the activity.

The activity was blessed by the presence of Rev. Fr. Alcris Panganiban, OLLP Parochial Vicar who presented the certificates to the resource speaker and forty one (41) attendees (thirty seven SoCCom, two pre-deacon CY5, and two CY2 Seminarians).

In whole, the Anchoring Seminar became a great avenue to exchange stories of faith and learn valuable skills as members of the SoCCom. To cap this off with gratitude, this activity would not have been possible without the efforts of the organizers especially through the leadership of Ms. Vinny Bajo, Parish SoCCom Coordinator.
