San Francisco de Asis Parish Celebrates Priests’ Day with a Heartfelt Tribute
San Francisco de Asis Parish, Tagakpan, August 4, 2024 – In a touching display of gratitude and reverence, the San Francisco de Asis Parish, in harmony with the whole Catholic community, celebrated the feast of Saint John Marie Vianney, the patron saint of priests. This special occasion, known as Priests’ Day, was marked by heartfelt gestures of appreciation towards the parish’s beloved clergy.
The parish pastoral council, in collaboration with the parish executive council (EXECOM), orchestrated a surprise offering of flowers to Rev. Fr. Mario B. Holmina, OSJ, the parish priest, during both the first and second mass.
Parishioners presented him with an array of roses and other flowers as tokens of their gratitude for his dedication and spiritual leadership since he began his ministry at San Francisco de Asis Parish in July 2021.
Madam Bebie Alcaria, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), expressed the sentiments of the community: Tanang pari, labina atong Kura Paroko ug iyang assistant, deserve nga pasalamatan sa ilang suporta ug pagdala sa atong Parokya.”
This celebration is also significant especially now as the Church emphasizes Synodality.
The celebration extended beyond the structure of the parish as Fr. Dennis P. Venus OSJ, the parochial vicar, who officiated the regular Sunday Mass at the (GKKs) Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban, was also honored with flowers. This act of appreciation highlighted the deep respect and affection the parishioners hold for their clergy.
The parishioners of Tagakpan expressed their profound gratitude to the Oblates of Saint Joseph (OSJ) priests, particularly Fr. Mario and Fr. Dennis, for their tireless efforts, support, and spiritual guidance. The celebration of Priests’ Day served as a poignant reminder of the vital role that priests play in nurturing the faith and community spirit within the parish.
As the Church continues to journey together in Synodality, the parishioners of San Francisco de Asis Parish remain united in their support and appreciation for their spiritual leaders, reinforcing the strong bond between the clergy and the faithful.
