Youth, Appreciate What You Have Today

The three-day visit by Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., the beloved Archbishop of Davao, to Mary Help of Christians Parish from June 10 to 12, 2024, brought an unforgettable sense of joy, faith, and community spirit. The archbishop’s arrival was met with heartfelt warmth, as parishioners, particularly the youth, greeted him with colorful flags and an energetic performance by the winners of the Banana Festival dance competition. This vibrant celebration was a highlight of the 18th Parochial Fiesta, reflecting the deep-rooted faith and unity of the parish community.

The carefully organized program led seamlessly into a powerful and touching mass, with the final day of the visitation coinciding with Philippine Independence Day on June 12, 2024. During his heartfelt homily, Archbishop Valles eloquently expressed the importance of the youth in shaping the future of the nation and emphasized the significance of their active participation in church activities to become responsible and engaged citizens.

Following the mass, the parishioners came together for a communal evening meal, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. As the evening progressed, selected youths showcased their talents with a vibrant performance of the Salesian dance, adding a touch of joy and celebration. The highlight of the evening was a lively Q&A session, where the youth had the opportunity to pose questions to Archbishop Valles.

With grace and wisdom, Archbishop Valles fielded the questions with compassion and insight, leaving a lasting impact on the young minds present. His advice to the youth to appreciate the present moment resonated deeply, reminding them that they are not just the future, but also a vital part of the present. “Youth, appreciate what you have today,” Archbishop Valles urged, instilling in them a sense of gratitude and purpose as they navigate their journey towards the future. The visit of Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles D.D. was truly a testament to the power of faith, community, and the unwavering spirit of the youth in shaping a brighter tomorrow.
