Happy 75th fiesta to Sta. Ana Shrine Parish
How time flies! The first time I joined in the fiesta of Sta. Ana Parish was in 1983, and I was only 16 years old at that time. Together with some charismatic youth, we presented a dance number to the tune of Flashdance in the old CYO gym (now HCDC gym). Since that 1983 dance number, I have never missed a fiesta celebration. I can honestly say that my leadership skills were cultivated and blossomed in the parish, extending to my college student activities and into my workplace. These skills have not withered despite the passing years. Back then, the fiesta was celebrated every last Sunday of July.
Today, my parish is celebrating its diamond jubilee this July 26 with the following activities (some of which have already been held): July 6 (Binyagan sa Parokya); July 13 (Kasalan ng Parokya); July 13 and 20 (PYA Basketball League); July 17 (Kumpirma sa Parokya); July 20 (Ritual Mass for the Anointing of Grandparents and Elderly); July 24 (25th Anniversary Mass of Sta. Ana Parish as a Diocesan Shrine); July 25 (Solemn Procession after the 5:30 PM Holy Mass); and July 26 (Salo-salo sa Parokya, BYOB, after the 5:30 PM Pontifical Mass).
The 75th fiesta in the parish is the quietest so far, with no fanfare or funfair. In contrast, last year’s 74th fiesta was the grandest ever, featuring an “Indak-Indak” contest, a mini-Kadayawan festival right in the parish parking area.
Happy 75th parochial fiesta, my dear Lola Santa Ana! Serving you is the greatest manifestation of my love for God.
