Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish First Summer Youth Camp
The Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Youth Apostolate conducted their first ever Summer Youth Camp last May 31-June 2, 2024 with the theme from the gospel of LUKE 10:37 “The one who showed mercy.. GO and DO likewise.” ENCUENTRO: An Invitation to Synodality at Parish Grounds was participated by 230 delegates from the 38 GKKs of the said parish.
Day 1, focused more on Synodality in which Kuya Roy Felix Abrio as the speaker deepened the understanding of the youth on their involvements, roles and responsibilities in the church. Day 2 speaker Kuya Ryan Mejillano talked about the theme from the gospel of Luke 10:37 explained the story of the Parable of the Good Samaritan and how the youth of this generation can apply it.
The Davao Disaster Assistance and Youth Awareness Workforce, Inc. or D’DAYAW also joined the camp as a standby medical team to provide assistance in case there are campers who might get sick during the camp.
The camp was never easy, from preparation to the whole event but it was indeed successful and finished with flying colors. By the help of Rev. Fr. Leif Simbajon, parish priest and the dedication and commitment of the core group everything went smoothly.
To the Almighty Father, we thank you for the gift of the young people! (Kristelle D. Billones)
