Kolokabildo: En Route To Reaching Greater Heights!

The Bachelor of Arts in Communication Internship Program (BACIP) of the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) reigned globally, raising the Philippine and the HCDC flag in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia with its longest-running Public Affairs program of over 20 years – the KOLOKABILDO.

Enriching their live audiences along the way from Davao City and its partner school in Kota Kinabalu, SIDMA College last May 6, they delved into the discussion on the theme “The RISE of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA): The Kota Kinabalu Route.” Grappling on the impacts of the BIMP-EAGA on the overall development of Kota Kinabalu has highlighted necessary points on how Davao, as a pivotal city, can develop its agri-business, environment, tourism, and education aspects in an effective process.

As a stand-alone production from their 18-day Academic and Cultural Exposure Program, BACIP with its mentor, the mind of the program – Katrina Angela Posadas exclusively interviewed SIDMA College guests on the topic. They included Prof. Director Morni Kambrie, BIMP-EAGA Consultant; SIDMA CEO, Nur Atiqah Ngatimin; SIDMA Academic Coordinator, Rettie Michael; and Lecturer for Major Courses for BEd students Specializing in English Language and Literature, Athena Kimberly Sipaun.

The atrium was filled with students from SIDMA College, cheering their hearts out and listening to the topics that were discussed during the show. The guests were able to answer all the questions substantially which shed a light to the audience, especially to those who were not informed of the BIMP-EAGA initiative. From the production team to the live audience, everyone showed their help and support which contributed to the success of the show. Both Davao and Kota Kinabalu surely benefitted from this production, identifying areas that needed improvement and for people to become prouder of the two cities.

What started as a small production has now reached greater heights, conquering the international scene. KOLOKABILDO has continued its legacy of bringing issues to raise awareness to people, making them think of ways how to be of great help to society. It has transcended borders, uncovered stories, and delivered a great impact on the society. Being the longest Public Affairs program in HCDC, KOLOKABILDO will surely bring out the best for the years to come. (Jason Roi O. Bayla & Prenciss Jane Pandeling)
