To ascend as Jesus did
The Ascension of the Lord marked the fulfillment of Jesus Christ’s mission on earth and the beginning of the Church’s mission to continue His work. The Ascension was the occasion when Jesus sent out His Church to spread throughout the world. Thus, Pope Paul VI established World Communications Day as an annual celebration coinciding with Christ’s ascension to reflect on the modern means of social communication to spread the good news.
Parishioners were full of joy to celebrate the 22nd fiesta of the Ascension of the Lord Parish on May 12, 2024. Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D. presided over the Holy Mass, accompanied by Fr. Lexter Caras, SVD, and Reverend Ritzchild John Cariaga.
Archbishop Valles, in his homily, reminded the faithful that this feast completes the essence of our belief. It represents the ultimate hope of ascending to heaven as Christ did. We must always nurture a deep longing and desire to consciously pursue goodness, as it reflects the character of those who will ascend to heaven with our Lord.
Additionally, we included in our prayers the mothers who nurtured our trust in the Lord as it was also Mother’s Day. (Karen Sison)
