REMASE Marks 60th Founding Anniversary with Heartfelt Thanksgiving to Partner Communities

Davao City, April 27, 2024 — The St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary of Mindanao (REMASE) reached a significant milestone as it commemorates its 60th founding anniversary with a day filled with gratitude and reflection. Pastoral Day provides a special opportunity to express gratitude to the communities and individuals who have consistently supported and cared for the seminarians throughout their learning and growth experiences.

The anniversary festivities commenced with a solemn mass, presided over by Most Rev. George B. Rimando D.D.Auxilliary Bishop of Davao, setting a reverent tone for the day ahead. In his heartfelt homily, Bishop Rimando conveyed his profound gratitude to the Lord and to all those who have contributed to REMASE’s success over the past six decades.

The celebration, aims to give thanks not only for the existence of REMASE but for the countless individuals and communities who have walked alongside this journey of faith and formation. The support they receive is not merely for the formation of individual priests but for the enduring faith of communities.

Reflecting on his personal journey to priesthood, Bishop Rimando underscored the important role that every person played in his formation, particularly during his formative years. He acknowledged the challenges he faced and the unwavering support he received, highlighting the importance of communal faith in nurturing vocations.

Following the mass, the anniversary celebrations continued with a program tailored for the youth, featuring engaging activities and presentations. Additionally, an evaluation session provided an avenue for clear suggestions and proposals to further enhance the seminarians’ experiences. Fr. Reynaldo Retardo, Rector, had a conversation with the exposure partners and extended his heartfelt gratitude to each and everyone who helped the journey of the seminarians to strengthen their focus in the priestly ministry and life, preparing them for priesthood.

As the day came to an end, the atmosphere retained a spirit of thanksgiving and camaraderie, representing the lasting legacy of REMASE and its significant impact on the lives of countless individuals.
