A Reaffirmation of Commitment

The 35th Patronal Fiesta of Our Lady of Peace GKK that was held on May 19, 2024, at Davao Executive Homes Matina, Davao City, was a jubilant affair marked by spiritual reflection and communal celebration.

Mass for the occasion was presided over by Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles D.D., who began his sermon by extending Easter greetings, acknowledging the significance of Pentecost Sunday. He also conveyed warm wishes for the fiesta, expressing heartfelt gratitude to Father Allan and all the members of the GKK for their gracious invitation.

In his address, Archbishop Valles marveled at the beauty and spaciousness of the chapel, underscoring the importance of sacred spaces in fostering community and worship. The highlight of the sermon was Archbishop Valles’ poignant reflection on the theme of peace, encapsulated in the Filipino phrase, “Si Jesus ang nagdala sa tinood na kalinaw” (Jesus brings true peace). Drawing upon the Pentecost narrative, he emphasized that linguistic diversity should not be a barrier to achieving peace, as Jesus himself embodies peace.

The 35th GKK Fiesta was not only a celebration of faith but also a reaffirmation of commitment to promoting peace and solidarity within the community. As the festivities concluded, participants left with renewed spirits, carrying the message of peace and love into their daily lives.

The event served as a testament to the enduring power of faith to unite people across cultures and languages in the pursuit of a more harmonious world. The members of the GKK extend their appreciation to everyone who showed their support especially the following mission partners:
