The day was marked as a significant occasion that not only celebrated the milestone anniversary but also served as a testament to the faith of the community. In his homily, Archbishop Valles emphasized the importance of the saints in Catholicism. “Wala ta nag-ampo sa mga santos nga sama Dios, but nag-ampo ta sa mga santos para tabangan ta sa atong faith,” Archbishop Valles added. San Vicente Ferrer’s preaching of crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ is central to the Christian faith whose teachings in Christianity is rooted not merely in abstract doctrines, but in the historical reality of Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection.
“San Vicente Ferrer preached about Jesus who suffered, died, and was resurrected. This is the foundation of our faith. Our religion, our Catholic faith, is not based on doctrines but on a specific event,” Valles continued. Archbishop Valles reminded the faithful that this perspective encourages Christians to base their faith on the transformative impact of Christ’s actions, rather than solely on the dogmatic structures of the Church. The Mass portrayed the spiritual bonds among members signified the tradition of honoring saintly figures in Catholicism securing the legacy of San Vicente Ferrer that continuously inspired the faithful.
