PREX leadership revisited in a summit
Contemplating on the theme, “Unity in mission: empowering leaders, enriching PREX,” about a hundred PREX leaders from ten outreach-parishes of the Archdiocese of Davao reunited in a PREX Leaders’ Summit held at San Pablo Parish in Matina last 24 February 2024.
The whole day summit was organized by the Davao Archdiocese Association of Parish PREX Secretariat (DAAPPS), headed by its Chair Ate Leh Chu Tan, to revive PREX seminars in the archdiocese with the spirit of new evangelization, since they were ceased for more than three years due to the pandemic.
PREX Bangkal led the opening prayer, while praise and worship songs were initiated by PREX Panacan; facilitated by Ate Bing Caderao, the summit was opened by DaDiTaMa National Association of Parish PREX Secretariat (NAPPS) Vice President, Kuya Rudy Sultan.
Delegates were illumined of their service commitment by the first keynote given by Father Voltaire Dimol, reminding them of journeying together in synodality embraced with stewardship by sharing 3-Ts in the parish and active participation in GKK as we celebrate the diamond anniversary of the Archdiocese of Davao.
The enhancement of leadership skills by the second keynote was presented by ACLAIM Spiritual Director Father Marbendear Morallas, reminding them of what a servant leader should be, following the new evangelization of the Church as the way of spiritual childhood.
Review on the specific roles with slight changes on the flow of the PREX seminars were presented by DAAPPS Vice Chair Ate Susan Tusoy; while Ate Leh Chu Tan reviewed on the roles of PREX Officers in the parish
Kuya Ric Otero reviewed on the roles of the music ministry and the animators; while Ate Neng Pascua and Kuya Wilson Matumbaga reviewed on the roles of other particular facilitators essential in PREX seminars.
The summit was officially closed by Kuya Darwin Galvez; and all delegates of the summit were rejuvenated and fully charged on their renewed PREX challenges as they received the Sacraments of Penance and the Holy Eucharist, enthusiastically looking forward on the revival of the PREX seminars in the near future in their respective outreach-parishes.
Welcome to the PREX family of the new evangelization, mga Ate and mga Kuya! (Vonz M. Hijada, OLLP SoCCom)
