My journey as LCCP president
I was one of the few parish coordinators who created and designed the first LCCP in 2008 which was held in SOS Bajada. Fr. Joel Caasi was our ALC director. Back then, LCCP stood for Lectors, Commentators, Cantors, and Psalmists. Ate Elena Cunanan of St. Jude Parish was the president. Now it is composed of lectors, commentators, choir members, and psalmists.
In the Sta. Ana Shrine parish, I have had the privilege of being elected as president of the commentators and lectors ministry (CLM) on a regular basis, with elections held every two years. This role has afforded me the opportunity to attend the regular meetings of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Center (ALC).
In 2013, I was elected as the second LCCP president for a term of three years (2013-2016), following the tenure of Ate Elena. During my presidency, there was a transition in venue for LCCP gatherings from University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) Bajada to St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary of Mindanao (REMASE) gym, where we encountered challenges such as limited facilities. Despite this, I remained committed to serving.
In 2023, after a decade, I was once again elected as the LCCP president, marking my fifth term. This unexpected honor left me speechless, yet deeply grateful. With a new set of officers and an ALC director, I relied on prayer for guidance. Following the 13th LCCP convention, I realized that these changes were opportunities for growth and fulfillment in my service to the Lectors Ministry. Truly, the adage “Nasa Diyos ang awa; Nasa tao ang gawa” has become a guiding principle in my ministry journey.
