Gabii sa pasidungog ug pasalamat
Almost four hundred servant leaders showed up for the “Gabii sa Pasidungog ug Pasalamat” at 5:30 P.M. dressed in their prescribed attire; ladies in modern Filipiniana, while men in Barong Tagalog on February 10, 2024, Saturday, at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish (OLLP) multipurpose gym. This event was a part of the 21st Parochial Fiesta Celebration of the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Bangkal.
The gathering aimed to honor and express gratitude to servant leaders at every level from the Parish Pastoral Council to the Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban. As Fr. Henry Campeon mentioned, the servant leaders work alongside the parish priest to carry out daily parish services. Without their help in various tasks and functions, the parish, the church as God’s people, and the church as a building would not be as they are today.
Araceli Cabudlan, the Pastoral Coordinator, worked with the food catering services to provide five food and drink stations to prevent a long line. The food catered to both Asian and Western cuisine fairly at the buffet tables. This is due to the advice of by Fr. Henry that one of the objectives is to have everyone feel full and pleased.
The Pangulo Sa Liturhiya (PSL) Band, led by band manager, PSL Coordinator, Bro. Ruben Sumagang, was there and played timeless music for the assembly to enjoy. Fr. Henry sang his all-time classic music in a version that is unmatched by the original.
The giving of lei came next, right after dinner. It was Fr. Henry Campeon, parish priest and Fr. Fernando Ingente, SM, guest priest who presented the lei to the Parish Pastoral Council members. The servant leaders from districts 1 to 7, were to receive the lei from the PPC members. Owing to the large number of recipients, this section alone, took about two hours. Thelma Bernasor, one of the PPC members was the one in-charge of making the lei available.
Wow, the youth, the adults, and the elderly citizens gave it their all in the final dance, as if it were their last time on the dance floor.
Similar ideas of expressing gratitude were discussed in the introductory remarks of Bro. Nestor Fruto, Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) Lay Coordinator, Sis. Araceli Cabudlan, Pastoral Coordinator, and Fr. Henry Campeon, parish priest’s closing speech. The organizers and, above all, the servant leaders were delighted with the way the event came to a close. The objective was accomplished.
The program and emceeing were assigned to the parish youth apostolate, which was directed by Parish Youth Apostolate Coordinator, Janssen Jumo. Atty. Rene Alexis Villarente, Barangay Talomo, Chairman, oversaw the stage decorations.
The program ended at 10:00p.m. (Vinny G. Bajo, OLLP PPC Secretary/SoCCom)
