A Pilgrim Church
The launching of the 75th Jubilee celebration of the Archdiocese of Davao sets the gear for all of us – bishops, clergy, religious and laity – to join our steps together as we recall the past with gratitude. The presence of the Most Rev. Charles John Brown as presider and homilist during the launching Mass reminds us of the Church as founded on the apostles. The Church of Davao needs to remember the example of our first missionaries who planted the seeds of faith.
This celebration leads us more deeply to awaken our sense of communion as we journey in faith, hope and love. Our enthusiasm in building one another propels our identity as baptized believers. Afire with God’s love, our endeavor must be to become bringers of joy to the less fortunate and the sorrowful.
We must be driven to look to the future with confidence. Our experience of being accompanied by the Spirit who empowers the community of believers, strengthens our bond in becoming men and women for others. Our growth as witnessed in the passing of years must become reality as we welcome the youth and the despised to feel that they belong to the Church.
Mother Mary, intercede for us in our journey!
