God’s Word: The Breath of New Life
God’s Word: The Breath of New Life. This is the theme for this year’s National Bible Month taken from Gen. 2:7: “The Lord God formed man out of the clay of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and so man became a living being” and 2 Tim. 3:16-17: “All Scripture is inspired of God and is useful for teaching – for reproof, correction, and training in holiness so that the man of God may be fully competent and equipped for every good work.”
This reminds us of the beginning and source of our very life, who is God Himself breathing into us. This challenges us to take the Word of God as our guide to live holy lives. God’s word brings about renewal if we listen and put into heart and into practice what we read and hear because it is really God who speaks to us through His word. In joy and in sorrow, in success and in failure, in plenty and in need, the word of God is alive if only we meditate on it daily.
Thanks to the former Philippine Presidents, Ferdinand Marcos in 1982, Corazon Aquino in 1986, Fidel Ramos in 1997 and Rodrigo Duterte in 2017, who through their Presidential Proclamations, have made the country one with the Church in celebrating the Bible Month every beginning of the new year.
Let us expose ourselves often to the Word of God by reading, studying, praying, sharing and living it, so that it may unite rather than divide us, guide rather than lead us astray, and enlighten rather than confuse us.
