How to succeed in Business
- Wear short Barongs or white long/short sleeve shirts with dark pants. This is how people want you to look in business. No long hair, no beard, no beads/trinkets, no jeans.
- Never say what you really think. Say what people want to hear with a little bit of what you think, throw it. You have to listen to others to know what they want you to say. Listening is good because when you’re going up, envious co-workers might destroy you.
- Be nice to everyone. If you have to be tough, don’t overdo it. If you have to humiliate someone or help him out of a problem, help him. News will spread that you’re good and will help you go up the ladder.
- Never sacrifice friends and loved ones on the altar of success/money. The people you love will still be there when you retire.
- Be patient with elders who are ahead of you. They have more responsibilities, some are already partly deaf, blind, absent minded, have aching bones. Don’t feel bad when they don’t get out of the way fast enough for your ambitions. In any case, don’t let them see you praying for their death.
- Have some idea of what you can and cannot do. That will make it unnecessary for others to point it out.
- The worst phrase. “I did it.” The best phrase “We did it.”
- The winning words “it’s not your fault. I made the mistake.”
- Nice friendly words. “Thank you. What do you think? Please, can I help you?”
- Wise: Make friends with people you meet when you go up because you’ll meet them again when you go down.
