Embracing Mary’s Directive – “Do Whatever He Tells You”
On November 27, 2023, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish sparkled with festivities during its 14th Parochial Fiesta. The day commenced with a Eucharistic Celebration, graced by the presence of Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, DD, alongside revered church leaders Archbishop Emeritus Fernando R. Capalla, DD; Most Rev. George Rimando, DD; Most Rev. Abel C. Apigo, DD; and various priests including former Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Elneri B. Meñez.
In his homily, Archbishop Valles expressed profound admiration for the unwavering support of the parishioners toward the church’s construction led by the parish priest himself, Rev. Fr. Jess Samaniego. He described it as nothing short of miraculous. To him, the parishioners themselves are the embodiment of this miracle, likening their commitment to the instruction given by Mary: “Do whatever He tells you.” Their dedication and adherence to this guidance have truly facilitated the astounding progress witnessed in the church’s development.
Post-Mass, the grounds buzzed with activities. The aroma of lechon roasting wafted through the air while a competition for the best-looking booth enthralled attendees. The festive atmosphere continued in the afternoon with a special treat for the community’s children. Sir Leo Villaber organized a series of lively parlor games, accompanied by exciting prizes that brought smiles to many faces.
As the day unfolded, the Youth Coordinator, Jerelyn D. Alastra, assisted by Kennis Moral curated an engaging program. They entertained the parishioners with more fun-filled parlor games, announced the winners of the earlier competitions, and distributed prizes and certificates. Rev. Fr. Jesus Samaniego, accompanied by other PPC members, concluded the event with a brief but heartfelt message and a final blessing.
The festivities epitomized a day brimming with joy, camaraderie, and shared moments of celebration, underscoring the unity and vitality within the parish community of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. (Audrey Escopete & Marilou Luzon)
