Dedicating our family to God

The feast of the holy family on December 31, 2023 is a reminder for us to dedicate our family to God. We offer to him our family’s future during these uncertain times when calamities and wars are happening. May our families be holy just like St. Joseph, Mama Mary and Jesus. May fathers emulate the obedience of St. Joseph, mothers, the simplicity of Mama Mary and children, the goodness of Jesus.

The family is the foundation of every society. Its citizens belong to a family and if that family is founded in good values, then there is peace and harmony in our society. However, families nowadays face a lot of challenges. Some have become dysfunctional. Vices and temptations led to crimes that break families and societies.

As parents, we must see to it that each member of our family is taken care of and is loved. We should lead by example and should bring our family closer to God. By doing so we hope that our family will be a good member of our society.

Below is a short prayer for every family that I would like to share with you.

Dear Lord, we pray that you bless our families. May each parent be a good example to their children and may the children feel loved and taken care of.

As a member of the society, may we live harmoniously and cooperate with authorities to make it a place conducive for living.

Lastly, please protect each family from the evils of vices, crimes and temptations. May they remain steadfast and rooted in your love.

This we pray through the guidance of St. Joseph, Mama Mary and in Jesus’ name, Amen.
