Catechist: A Challenge to the Youth

Among the Catholic faithful it is common to see of age, adult catechists and a rare opportunity to have a young catechist in the Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) or Parishes. At St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish, we do have one exemplary youth who began her mission as a catechist at a very young age. ALLYZA HOPE J. TABIGUE was born on March 28, 2006 to her parents: Bernan O. Tabigue and Ferlisa Jinayon-Tabigue.

She began her journey in 2019, becoming a youth catechist at her GKK, San Isidro Labrador. At the age of 13 she already took on this great challenge. She is indeed a gift from God. She is an amazing gift from God. The Holy Spirit guided her to make her own decision to become a catechist.

She was really interested and inspired by the catechists from San Pedro Cathedral who taught her Basic Catechesis during her elementary days at Kapitan Tomas Monteverde, Sr. Central Elementary School SpEd Center. It was a plus factor also that she used to join the Flores de Mayo every year. It was because of these experiences she had in her formation years that she realized that she wanted to become a catechist too. She wanted to teach and be an inspiration to other people especially the children or students knowing how much it can influence and help one’s spiritual growth just like what had happened to her during her childhood. Aside from being a Youth Catechist in her GKK, concurrently she is a member of the Parish and GKK Lectors and Commentators and GKK SoCCom.

What a way to praise God if not to share His Word. (Hermie Mapute, Parish SoCCom)
