BEC/GKK: An Image of the Most Holy Trinity
On June 4, 2023, the whole Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. Based on the Gospel reading of the celebration which is taken from John 3:16-18, “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life.” At its core, God’s love is not a solitary one but a community of loving. One mirror of this brand of communitarian loving is the life and mission of the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs).
In the Philippine Church, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) declared the annual celebration of the Most Holy Trinity as BEC Sunday. This time we will celebrate the 5th BEC Sunday with the theme, “BECs in Synodality with Basic Human Communities.”
In the Archdiocese of Davao, the national theme is localized with this Theme, “Santisima Trinidad: tuburan sa kahiusahan sa pagpanag-uban sa panaw sa misyon sa GKK sa diwa sa pagkapiniyalan.” The Local Theme speaks about the Synodal Theme of Communion, Participation, Mission which is concretely expressed in the Spirituality of Stewardship.
The Parish BEC/GKK Ministry Coordinators of the 1,851 BECs/GKKs in the 42 Parishes of the Archdiocese of Davao will Renew their Commitment. This Renewal of Commitment will be integrated in the celebration of the Holy Mass to be presided by the Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao. This will be held on June 3, 2023, at the 5:00 p.m. anticipated Sunday Mass at the San Pedro Cathedral. The event will be covered live by the DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM. After the Holy Mass, the GKK coordinators will gather at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, in which they will receive a Certificate of Appreciation as an expression of gratitude from the Archdiocese of Davao.
