27th Diocesan Youth Convention

Diocese of Digos — to proclaim God’s name, the first day of the 27th Diocesan Youth Convention (DYC) was successfully conducted at the Kapatagan National High School, Brgy. Kapatagan, Digos City on June 10, 2023, hosted by the Our Lady of Mt. Apo Parish (OLMP) of Kapatagan.

Solidifying this year’s DYC’s official theme: “Proclaim His Greatness”, more than 600 delegates coming from the different parishes in the Diocese came together and participated in the event.

In the morning, the hosts cordially welcomed the delegates as they arrived at the venue full of enthusiasm and excitement. Each parish, then showcased their creative and lively yells and cheers in the afternoon which set the atmosphere in a more friendly and joyful convention.

They commenced the program with an opening mass presided by the Most Rev. Guillermo D. Afable, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Digos, and con-celebrated by Rev. Fr. Frederick Parantar, Diocesan Youth Director, and Rev. Fr. Marc Yape, PSDP.

After the mass, the Parish Youth Coordinating Council President (PYCC) of OLMP, Mr. Christian Caintic, oriented the delegates and discussed the DYC’s house rules followed by the election of Diocesan YCC putting Mr. Renz Catalan of San Isidro Labrador – Digos to the presidency.

With joy and gratitude, the first day of the convention ended with a Taize prayer and youth jam led by the Spring of the Living Water Community (SLWC) bringing them to sing, dance, and worship Christ together. (Junjun Sampaga | SUGID | Photos: Al Divinagracia)
