Step into History: Chronicles of Local Church Legacy
Davao City — The highly anticipated photo exhibit titled “Through the Lens of Truth: Archdiocesan Media Preserving Local Church History” formally opened its doors on May 17, 2023, Wednesday, marking the celebration of the 57th World Day of Social Communications at the Holy Cross of Davao College.
In his opening message, HCDC President Br. Noelvic H. Deloria S.C., extended his warmest appreciation to the people behind this momentous event.
“We are very happy that the Center for Social Communications and Alumni Affairs and Crossroads and many others have been part of this idea, the Herald, Institute of Davao Studies and the AB Communication students really gathered together to support this beautiful exhibit because this would help us remember our faith tradition,” Deloria said.
Deloria also highlighted the importance of captivated photographs through the lens of truth.
“Each picture is different because it also conveys unique messages and so as we go around may our hearts be filled with joy and find meaning in the pictures that we see. The exhibits are not there for us to enjoy but also there to give meaning to our faith and to give meaning to our life,” he added.
This event showcases the work of Archdiocesan Media covering the local church and to display the different events and milestones in the history of the church in Davao and to raise awareness on the importance of the truth and history of the church through various media platforms.
Moreover, CSCAA Multimedia Assistant Mark Kinlee Ocay, stressed the role of media in preserving the history of the local church and promoting its mission.
“Through this event, we hope to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the vital role that communication plays in the life of the Church and the community,” he said.
The event was organized by the Center for Social Communication and Alumni Affairs and Crossroads, the official student publication of HCDC, in partnership with the Institute of Davao Studies (IDS), Bachelor of Arts in Communication particularly NMS 304 Digital Photography class, the Davao Catholic Herald, and Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS).
Guests, Faculty and Staff and students of HCDC were invited during the opening ceremony of the event.
By presenting thoughtfully selected photographs, students and visitors can delve into the changes that have occurred over time in these revered locations and gain insights into the evolution and transformations. The photo exhibit will run until May 31, 2023 at the HCDC Main Entrance and 2F Lobby. (Jhun Marwel Manzano | HCDC Intern)
