Photo Exhibit on Media Preserving Local Church History
Davao City – The HCDC Center for Social Communications and Alumni Affairs and Crossroads: The Official Student Publication of HCDC kicked off a remarkable photo exhibit, beginning on May 17 until May 31, 2023, in celebration of the 57th World Day of Social Communications.
This year, the Center for Social Communications and Crossroads in partnership with the Institute of Davao Studies, Davao Catholic Herald, Davao Association of Catholic Schools, and the Bachelor of Arts in Communication NMS 304 Digital Photography class takes this opportunity to contribute to the preservation of local church history. Through the art of photography, the center seeks to document and honor the significant role that churches have played in the cultural and religious heritage of the community.
The photo exhibit, titled “Through the Lens of Truth: Archdiocesan Media Preserving Local Church History”, will feature a diverse range of images capturing the architectural beauty, old newspapers, and religious heritage of various churches in the region. Through carefully curated photographs, students and guests will be able to explore the evolution of these sacred spaces, witnessing the passage of time and the transformations they have undergone.
The aim of the exhibit is not only to showcase the visual splendor of these churches but also to shed light on their historical and cultural importance. Each photograph will be accompanied by a detailed caption that provides insights into the origins, notable events, and unique characteristics of the featured churches.
With the 57th World Day of Social Communications, Holy Cross of Davao College stands as a shining example of the power of communication in preserving and celebrating the rich history of local churches. The “Through the Lens of Truth: Archdiocesan Media Preserving Local Church History” photo exhibit can be seen at the HCDC Lobby. Admission will be free, allowing people of all ages and backgrounds to partake in this celebration of local heritage. (Jhun Marwel Manzano | HCDC Intern)
