Araw ng Dabaw, Madayaw Agaw (Part 1 of 2)
In 1935, Davao Congressman Romualdo Quimpo (immigrant from Kalibo Aklan) sponsored a bill creating the chartered City of Davao. On October 16, 1936 President Manuel Quezon signed Commonwealth Act No. 5 (meaning it was the fifth law made the first year of the commonwealth period of 1936-46) On March 1, 1937 the city was officially inaugurated. The second elected Mayor (Elias B. Lopez) started the celebration of Araw ng Dabaw and the Kadayawan Festival during his first term. (1967-71) Davao has gone a long way from October 16, 1936 to March 1, 2023.

Population 1975: 484,678 – 2020 1, 776,949 – 2025 1,905, 449 (expected). From one congressional district we now have 3:

- District 2 Hon. Vince Garcia 46 Barangays, Agdao 11, Bunawan 13, Buhangin 9, Paquibato 13.
- Hon. Isidro Ungab 82 Barangays. Baguio 8, Marilog, 12, Tugbok 18, Calinan 19, Toril 25.
On December 2022, the Commission on Audit issued a 2021 financial report of 81 provinces, 146 cities and 1,446 Towns.

The locally sourced revenues in Cebu Island came from 5 cities, Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Danao and Talisay. Thus, diluting the income of Cebu City. Davao will remain as the no. 9 city of the 146 cities as to assets, no. 8 of the 146 cities as to income. From 2023 to 2025 for 5 reasons.
