Pit Senyor!
Why is it that the image of the Santo Niño is often times seen in some stores and business establishments? Upon entrance and near the cashier is where sometimes this statue is displayed, be it a restaurant, a sari-sari store or a business firm. Some means of transportation also have them. In the mind of owners and managers of these places reside the faith that having those statues is a blessing. Faith tells that by displaying a statue of the Santo Niño, the firm is protected, customers are attracted, workers are guided and the whole place is blessed.
Why is it that statues of the Santo Niño have different clothing? Some look regal while others identify with ordinary sectors in society. This is just a manifestation of the Filipino’s longing for the Child Jesus to journey with the simple believer in whatever situation one is in. This expresses that desire of the heart for the accompaniment of the Child Jesus in whatever status of life. Indeed, this faith in the Santo Niño reminds all of us that the more we honor him, the more he will bless us.
