Feast of the Holy Family: A Mirror of Love

The Church celebrated on Friday, December 30, 2022, the Feast of the Holy Family wherein the Family & Life Apostolate (FLA) / Pangulo Sa Kristohanong Banay (PSKB) of St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish, Buhangin, celebrated its First Fiesta in honor of the Most Holy Family – Jesus, Mary and Joseph with the theme, “HOLY FAMILY: A MIRROR OF LOVE AND A MODEL TO ALL CHRISTIAN FAMILIES.” At the same time, the Christmas Party 2022 was held to express gratitude to the Almighty for all the graces and perseverance in the mission as well as strong faith in the face of pandemic. The Holy Family of Nazareth was choosen because their virtues exemplify the genuine essence of a family: love, respect, protection, diligent care to our Redeemer and their devotion and commitment to the Father’s plan. Thus, said virtues serve as ultimate example and inspiration in the family life.

One of the threats today is the breaking of some families, which poses a significant challenge in terms of living according to the will of the Father and according to our mission. It is through the family that children should learn about God, the faith and be introduced into God’s family, which is the Church. Fr. Diony Tabiliran enthused in his homily that a family is a miniature church: “kon lig-on ang pamilya lig-on usab ang kapilya, kon lig-on ang kapilya lig-on usab ang simbahan”.

The highlight of the festivities began with a Holy Mass at 6 o’clock in the morning officiated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Dionisio Tabiliran, followed by the procession of the Holy Family statue going to SMPRP Gym as the venue of the gathering, presentations of kids and adults, parlor games, raffle of prizes and exchanging of gifts which was spearheaded by FLA/PSKB Coordinator Bro. Maurillo & Sis. Delia Frias. The core group and participation of its members from Zones 1 to 10 were inspired of three T’s – Time, Talent and Treasure as good workers in St. Mary’s vineyard.
