Virgen de Guadalupe
Pueblo Amante de Maria, a people who love Mary dearly have successfully supported the Canonical Establishment of the 41st Parish in the Archdiocese of Davao, the Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The Our Lady asked Juan Diego of Guadalupe to build a church in her honor, and the Archdiocese of Davao continued to obey this favor.
Last December 12, 2022, a substantial magnitude of happiness and faith happened at Phase 6 Deca Homes, Tacunan, Tugbok District, Davao City; this is due to the Canonical Establishment of the 41st Parish in the Archdiocese of Davao and Canonical Installation of its Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Leif M. Simbajon as well as the first Parochial Fiesta of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. The celebration was presided over by Most Reverend Romulo G. Valles, DD, Archbishop of Davao. Archbishop Valles was pleased to see the community joyfully celebrating the historic event.
After the mass, the parishioners celebrated their first Parish Night with the theme, “Pista sa Nayon.” The different ministries prepared different folk dance presentations, and each presentation represented the Our Lady of Guadalupe. The dances were not only meant to entertain but also to inform and evangelize.
In the last part of the program, Bro. Ryan Mejillano was portrayed as San Juan Diego in a simple presentation, afterwards he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God for the new Parish and new Parish Priest.
In the words of the Archbishop in his homily, just like the Bishop of Seoul he too, wishes that there will be more parishes and that there will be more priests to facilitate and become stewards of God. (Kristelle D. Billones | Photos by Brenda P. Milan)
