PSP Team Building Creating a Stronger Community

A day to unwind, enjoy, reflect and reconnect. The Pangulo sa Pagpanudlo (PSP) of St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish held their team building last October 29, 2022 at Muland Leisure Park.

The team building was headed by the Head Catechist Mrs. Dionisia “Jo” Devera and was participated by the 48 PSPs from Zones 1 to 10 which was held at the resort’s pavilion.

Sir Meds and Ma’am Bing Abogado were the resource speakers. Participants were divided into 4 large groups with the following team names: Team Lily, Team Sunflower, Team Rose and Team Sampaguita.

Facilitation exercises through varied games and activities were held to break the ice and shyness. Before the talks began, the PSPs sang “Maya-Maya” as another icebreaker. During the talk, Sir Meds discussed the importance of a team, teamwork and team building. He also highlighted the characteristics of a team which includes: awareness of the need of unity, strong interpersonal relationship and ability to act together.

According to him a well-functioning team has these characteristics: Clear Purpose, Priorities, Clear Roles, Clear Decisions, Resolved Conflicts, Accepted Norms, Effectiveness, United Success, and Regular Training. Lastly, the seven elements of an Effective Team with the Acronym TRACSIM consists of T- mutual Trust, R-mutual Respect, A-Acceptance, C- genuine Communication, S-mutual Support, I-Interdependence, and lastly M-Motivation.

Before ending the talk, Ma’am Jo thanked the resource speakers and the PSPs for participating in the team building. She shared that the PSPs are like a living body with a head, hands and feet wherein one cannot function without the other missing parts. It was also mentioned that in a living body there should also be knees which connote the need to always pray.

After the talk, lunch followed as everyone enjoyed the food and each other’s company. When everyone was already full, the PSPs now asked the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary by praying the Holy Rosary.

Everyone then gathered for their free-time where they danced, swam and had a good time. (Article and Photos by Allyza Hope Tabigue, GKK SoCCom)
