The Davao Association of Catholic Schools (DACS) has initiated activities not only for schools but also for organizations to celebrate this year’s Week of Peace with the theme, “Enduring Peace: Mindanaoans living in solidarity, service and security towards sustainable future.”

The celebration officially opened last November 24, Thursday with the Holy Mass at Ateneo de Davao University and will culminate on November 30. This celebration was signed by the President in 2001 through Presidential Proclamation number 127.

In a keynote address presented by Fr. Joel Tabora, SJ he said, “if we want peace in Mindanao, we must understand how violence in Mindanao is linked to violence in the world, which we would too often rather forget.” In truth, what he said is what the generation of today needs; to look into the roots, to look first within.

The ADDU President also added, “From the experience of the world, you do not have peace if religious belief is reduced to an arrogant dogmatism that allows one to think one possesses all truth.” As he views and emphasizes it, “we are brothers and sisters created by one compassionate God called to promote world peace.”
